Costa Rica

On December 14th, Bride made their first trip to Central America. As part of the promotions in Costa Rica, Bride had a very successful autograph session and was given control over the largest secular radio station in the country where Personal Savior had made it into the top 10 singles in rotation. On December 15th, Bride played in a large gymnasium where 1000 people greeted them. The show was delayed due to the fact that the gymnasium was not equipped with enough power for the huge amount of sound and lights. Two large generators were brought in by tractor trailer for additional power. The show went fantastic and ended with Dale delivering a message to receive Christ. Over 200 bibles were given to those who came forward that evening. One of the most fascinating things about travelling to other countries is meeting the people and having the opportunity to share the faith in Jesus.

Sao Paulo Brazil

For the third year in a row, Bride travelled to South America. This was the fifth year that the S.O.S. DA VIDA gospel festival has been held. On December 22, Bride headlined the night and played to approximately 30,000 people. The following night, Bride was asked unexpectedly to perform again. The crowd this night was up to 60,000. Although the number of people seems large, it was smaller in comparison to previous years due to the fact that the festival had to be moved to December instead of September. In South America, their Summer falls in December, and that is the time that kids are out of school and everyone takes vacation. The language of Brazil is Portuguese, so a translator is always provided so that Dale can share the message of Jesus Christ with the people. The hunger for the gospel has always been very strong in Brazil and many people come to know the Lord at this great festival. Other familiar bands which performed were Hoi Poloi and Bride's long time friends Guardian, who performed on December 21st.

BRIDE in Tulsa Oklahoma

New Year s Eve at GUTSOn New Year's Eve, Bride played "GUTS" in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You may have seen the members of Bride wearing the "Tougher than Hell" t-shirts on tour. This is the where the t- shirts come from. "GUTS" is a church and a street out reach that is growing quickly and is very strong in the Lord. After Dale's message, many people came forward to give or rededicate their lives. What a great way to start 1996!

VIDEO

Once again Bride is offering a live in Brazil video. This is Bride III. The first two videos went over very well thanks to all of you who purchased one. The first trip is no longer available. There are just a few of the second trip still in stock. We are now making room for this third video. The video footage contains songs from the "Drop" record and a couple of new songs that have not been recorded until now.

Baby Announcement

Dale and Sharon Thompson wish to announce that in the beginning of April, they expect the arrival of Nicholas Jordan Foster Thompson. Jordan, as he will be called, will be Dale and Sharon's third son.

Message

Romans 10:17 says, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. What is faith? Hebrews 11:1 states, Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. The Word of God says that without faith, it is impossible to please Him. We can only believe in the existence of God by faith. Since we cannot see or touch Him, we must act upon our unfeigned faith to believe the impossible. The evidence of God rests in our hearts and not in material or temporal things. If you desire to live a just and righteous life, you are required by God to live by faith and not by sight. The believer's faith is that which overcomes the world. James 2:20, Faith without works is dead. Faith is important to establish patience in our life. In this life we live, there are many who claim to be experts on the subject of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Some say that not all of the Bible is to be believed because it does not line up with astrology. Others proclaim a contradiction because it does not collaborate ideology and scientific theory. I am writing this to encourage everyone to believe in the impossible and the invisible things of God, "unvarnished truth", because all things are possible with God. People today still search for faults and contracdictions in the gospel to try to disprove and pervert God's Word. The words of Jesus are both episodic and synoptic. I assure you that no amount of academic/detective work that someone may do will change my intrinsically steadfast and unwavered faith in God. Galatians 1:8 says, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Lost Reels II

This CD is a another glimpse into the song writing style of Bride. It contains the demo versions of the songs you are probably familiar with already. Featured on this 14 song CD are Scarecrow, Place, Beast, Some Things Never Change, Same ol' Sinner, I Miss The Rain, Kiss The Train, Everybody Knows My Name, Hired Gun, Ever Fallen In Love, Young Love, Sweet Louise, Rattlesnakes, Would You Die For Me. Some of these songs are very different from the version that made it on the records.

Dale is still singing the Blues

Those of you who are hesitant or curious about Dale's solo project may want to read the recent review from the Louisville Music News magazine. (listed below)

Louisville Music News Review

By Robert Gruber- Dale Thompson is the lead singer for Bride. On his first solo outing, Thompson puts quite a distance between himself and Bride's trademark hard rock, favoring a more stripped down, experimental blues approach. The band here features local guitar luminaries like Steve Ferguson and Kentucky HeadHunter Greg Martin, as well as other Bride-sters, this is Thompson's gig. He claims it on the strength of his unique singing voice and his spirited tales of back road inspiration, distinctively southern, like Flannery O'Conner with touches of Mickey Spillane. Thompson and company craft appropriate sounds to fit the moods and atmospheres of the words. At times the music hangs in space, moving like thick smoke in a dimly-lit bar. There are times it's just straight-up blues, tinted with sax, accordion, and trombone. On "I could", Thompson, with Martin on greasy guitar, evoke images of Robert Johnson. The production on this 12 song disc is superb, erasing the notion that a good album can't be recorded in Louisville. This is a rich musical experience that should not be ignored.
