The Carnal Christian

What is a carnal Christian? It is a person who is characterized by a consistent regression of their spiritual life. If a person stays on this road long enough, they will apostatize. It is someone who is slipping from grace and about to fall into a miserable state of uncertainty. 1 Corinthians 3:3 "For you are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men?" This is people who have fallen out of fellowship with others and with God. A holy relationship with God spoiled and turned corrupted by a person's desire will bring about destruction. 2 Samuel chapter 11 speaks of King David as one whom though he was a believer he acted and behaved as an unbeliever. James 1:14 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."

To reestablish ourselves back into the grace where we have freedom a person must change their heart. If you feel as though you have drifted from God or that you are slowly drifting away at this time, take a look at what you are being drawn to. Is it something that is worth chancing your soul over? 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." There is no exception made for the person who previously believed.

Remember where God has delivered you from. 1 Corinthians 6:11 "And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."

We are not Christians just because we once believed. A past testimony of a moment of belief on Christ is past tense. We can know who is a child of God by the present way they live their life. 1 John 3:10 "In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother."

It is most important in this wicked time, which we live for true believers in Christ Jesus to come out from the world and be separated. Do not leave people wondering if you are a follower and a doer of God's Word but let your light shine so that Jesus may be seen in you to everyone.
